About ALK Positive Belgium

The aim of the association is to improve the quality of life and the health perception of patients through the following activities:

  1. 1

Bring together Belgian patients with ALK-positive lung cancer (ALK+), and support them in finding suitable Belgian specialists and care facilities.

  2. 2

Provide information to Belgian ALK+ lung cancer patients about the latest treatments, scientific developments and clinical studies, both in Belgium, Europe and the rest of the world.

  3. 3

Raise awareness of ALK+ lung cancer.

To raise awareness about ALK+ lung cancer:

  • Among the general public, to fight the stigma that lung cancer is a smoker's disease.

  • Among health professionals, to promote the best treatments for patients, even at an advanced stage.

  • With policy makers, such as the Belgian government (INAMI/RIZIV, FAMHP, etc.) to improve access to therapies and medicines.

  • With relevant international organisations and associations, especially Lung Cancer Europe and ALK Positive NL, DE, FR, UK and US, to build a strong network.

  • Liaise with the pharmaceutical industry to make ALK+ lung cancer treatment a priority.

  • Raise funds to promote these objectives, for projects that benefit Belgian patients.

Partners and funding

ALK Positive Belgium is run by volunteers. Our work is supported in part by external grants and sponsorship. ALK Positive Belgium retains editorial control over its information and independently determines its advocacy priorities. Funding does not give sponsors the right to direct our content or positions.

We work with Prolong vzw in Belgium, with Lung Cancer Europe, and with the ALK Positive organisations in the Netherlands, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

You are not alone
